From an MHU owned Windows system. This only works on-campus! However, on-campus Windows users may also use the SelfService method.
- Logon to the MHU network
- Once you see your desktop press the CTRL-ALT-DEL keys together
- From the security screen select “Change Password”
- Enter your current password and then your new password twice
- Click the arrow button to confirm the password change
- If you receive errors it is probably because the new password does not meet minimum length of 14 characters or complexity requirements
From a Macintosh system or an off-campus location.
- Log into SelfService (https://selfservice.mhu.edu)
- Click your username in the upper right and select “Change Password“
- This will display the Change Password screen. Enter your:
- Username
- Current password
- New password
- Confirm new password
- Click the “Change Password” button
- If you receive errors it is probably because the new password does not meet minimum length of 14 characters or complexity requirements
Note: Your password change goes into effect immediately in MHU hosted services such as SelfService, Moodle, MyMHU.
It will take 30 to 45 minutes for the new password to replicate to Microsoft Office 365 applications. Your old password will work until O365 is updated.

- Uppercase characters A-Z
- Lowercase characters a-z
- Digits 0-9
- Special characters (!, $, #, %, etc.)
- Passwords cannot contain more than 2 consecutive characters that are in the username.

- 5 passwords remembered. Your new password cannot be the same as any of the last 5 used.
